Friends of Fargnoli Park
Our Purpose
The purpose of the Friends of Fargnoli Park is to sustain the continued modernization of our neighborhood resource in the heart of Providence and provide quality programming for the enjoyment of Elmhurst residents of all ages. In 2016, a group of Elmhurst/Mt. Pleasant residents responded to a call-to-action due to a dangerously old play structure that needed to be replaced in the park. The structure hadn't been replaced since the early 1980's and presevered with only minor repairs by the city Parks department. With the help of the Providence Parks department, the group formed the Friends of Fargnoli Park--aimed at the continued beautification and modernization of our neighborhood park. In 2017, Phase I of the park was completed with the construction of a new play structure aimed at challenging children ages 5-12. Over the last 3 years, the Friends group has replaced all play structures, upgraded basketball courts, expanded the waterplay area, added play structures for handicap children, added more benches and tables and a little Library and added more greenspace for all around continued park enjoyment for residents of the Elmhurst community in Providence, RI. Phase II of the park renovation was completed in September 2020. Our goal is to continue park renovations and find additional uses for our neighborhood park to expand the use of the park to more children, more families and more elderly in our community.
