Foodexposed, (www.foodexposed.co.za) covers a wide range of topics affecting all ages ranging from nutrition, the impact of nutrition on health conditions, healthy living practices, identification of risk behaviors such as smoking and alcohol abuse and the resulting repercussions and suggests solutions to sustainable long term health practices. The overall goal is to promote the message of healthy sustainable behavioral practices for the current and future generations to minimize the current public health burden of preventable diseases, such as obesity, diabetes, heart disease, alcoholism etc. The focus of the project is on social media engagement and networking with diverse collaborative groups, with one common goal, sharing of information to allow access to information that impacts on the day to day life of the average person. Content is specifically tailored to have the most optimal social media engagement and is focused on issue mapping which involves a participatory mechanism to social research as it combines computing techniques with social methods and the optimal design and implementation of visual outputs. The technology involved consists of optimal utilization of social media, engagement and networking with diverse collaborative groups, with one common goal, sharing of information via a Word Press platform, to allow access to information that impacts on the day to day life of the average person. Content is specifically tailored to have the most optimal social media engagement and is focused on issue mapping which involves a participatory mechanism to social research as it combines computing techniques with social methods and the optimal design and implementation of visual outputs. Foodexposed through its twitter and Facebook platform reaches an average of 75,000-90,000 people on a weekly basis with heavy social media engagement and the demand for more content.
