Families Like Ours was created to build a supportive, connected community for families raising children with disabilities and complex needs in Berkshire County. Many families in our region experience isolation, burnout, and difficulty navigating systems such as healthcare, education, and behavioral supports. Our group formed out of lived experience, parents who understood firsthand how overwhelming it can be to advocate for a child while also trying to sustain family stability and well-being.Our big picture goal is to create spaces where families feel supported, informed, and empowered. We bring parents and caregivers together to share resources, build relationships, and learn from one another so that no family feels alone in their journey. At the same time, we work to elevate the voices of families to improve systems that serve children with disabilities. By fostering community leadership and collaboration, we hope to strengthen access to services, reduce stigma, and create more inclusive opportunities for children and their families.Ultimately, our goal is to ensure that families raising children with disabilities have the support, knowledge, and community they need to thrive.
