Our Purpose

Our National Water Dance '22 project brings New Haven artists together to bring attention to water sovereignty issues in our community. For this project, we are partnering with Save the Sound and the New Haven Regional Water Authority, and gathering local artists to perform in this activism-through-art project. The performance will be free and open to the public. ECDC's regional National Water Dance is part of a collective National project. We are one of hundreds of organizations/artists who are responding to critical water issues through art in a simultaneous performances that will happen on April 23 @ 4pm EST across the country. We believe dance belongs in the center of the cultural and political fabric of our country; that Climate Change and Water should be at the top of our nation’s political agenda. Our project is about justice, sovereignty, equity and the collective power of art. We hope to bring attention to New Haven's Waterfront area and the Long Island Sound through our site responsive performance.
