Our purpose is to create and sustain a community garden with the goal of teaching and learning about growing food in an urban environment. A garden will give access to fresh local produce through community work and supplement previous work done through a well established Farmers' Market run by the library. We aim to strengthen our community by connecting local foods to city residents to fresh local foods.The library system for the city of East Providence consists of three branches (two traditional lending branches, Weaver and Riverside Libraries) along with the third branch, the Fuller Creative Learning Center. The Fuller Branch is dedicated to teaching and offering hands on workshops and experiences. The other branches lend out materials and also provide programs for all ages. The Learning center is a unique and innovative library branch which houses a fully functioning kitchen which has hosted several farm to table cooking workshops.
