Our purpose is to...provide high quality locally grown and produced products to the local community through our year round farmer's market. We participate in SNAP and Maine Harvest Bucks Program along other incentive programs which help to expose and encourage local residents to attend the market and the benefits of fresh local products. We provide a safe place for shoppers and vendors alike to interact, creating and encouraging community building. Our group uses a cooperative decision making and management format focusing on communication and acting in the best interests of the farmers market, its customers and the the local communities we serve. We offer peer mentoring and tend to be a market where beginning farmers and vendors start before they move on to larger farmers markets or business growth. We live in the poorest county in Maine and we strive to be an opportunity for community members to have equitable access to healthy, nutritious foods. Our goals are to further encourage engagement with the community to help impact access, health and economic growth in our rural and remote area.
