Our purpose is to help our community come together. Dexter has been on a downward trend for the past 20 years since the Dexter Shoe Company left. It is an older community with a lot to offer but has no direction. We formed our Community Heart & Soul  group in the fall of 2019. We have 32 members with 12 being very active. We are have been setting up booths at events to get our name out and plan on having get togethers with our residents. We want to talk to people and find out what matters most to them in our town. We plan on setting up interiews with as many residents as possible and listen to their story. We will be asking questions like what the individual loves about our town and what they dislike about it. As the stories go along we will focus on the positives. When we finish our interviews we will put the information together to give us goals to accomplished from the ideas that our residents have. We will also involve our leaders in the community to show them what the people would like to see our town look and feel like. By doing this process we feel the residents will feel a sense of empowerment and take some initiative to make our community better. As for now our group would like to help the community with food while the state is in lock down because of the Covid -19 virus. We are looking for funding to help our food pantry thru this pandemic.
