Summary of Projects

Davis Park Community Garden received a grant in 2010 for raised bed materials needed to expand the garden and allow the many people on the waiting list an opportunity to engage in the activities.

In Spring 2008, a gang related shooting at Davis Park in Providence, RI spurred Elmhurst Clean & Green and several other local groups to undertake a bold mission to rethink the park. Plans for the park renovation are ambitious and include a community garden, a farmers' market that will accept vouchers from low income residents and seniors, new playground equipment, enhanced curb appeal, and opportunities for the arts through sculpture installations and an area for performances. The group received a grant in 2009 to oversee the oversee the organization, construction and administration of a community garden in Davis Park which, positioned at the junction of three neighborhoods, will provide a focal point to gather and better understand the richness of the diversity each neighborhood embodies.
