Our Purpose

to create a cross generational experience for the community. Our ultimate goal is to build community awareness of how we, as a community, can once again thrive by supporting ourselves and our neighbors. We view the Community Garden as the seed to sprout growth and return to productivity. (Residents will return to their roots because we will have broad casted the growing green movement, unearthed a resurgence of pride in their efforts and planted a community norm.) The Danbury Grange has been an active group within the community since 1875. The current partnership between the Grange and the Community School (K-4) came about as part of a two-year community sustainability project initiated by the Grange. Danbury was once a vibrant, prosperous community with the railroad running daily to transport goods to more populated areas. Though the railroad shut down in the mid-1970's, many farms and open areas exist in the community, but the community overall is one of poverty.
