DACS Young Adults Social and Recreation Group Experiences
Our Purpose
Our mission is to provide support and maintain independence for individuals 18-35 with disabilities whom we engage as they navigate life. Our purpose is to raise awareness as we connect them to resources, and support in the global community. Young adults with developmental disabilities face significant challenges in socializing and forming connections with their peers. They may experience difficulties in communication, self-advocacy, and personal development, hindering their ability to engage in meaningful relationships and activities. The objective of this program is to provide a social and recreational platform that fosters a sense of community among young adults with developmental disabilities. By creating a safe and inclusive environment, facilitating the connections and friendships, enabling participants to engage in meaningful social interactions. These activities will include socialization activity groups, outings, game nights, and community gatherings, to encourage interaction and friendship-building among participants. Skill Development Workshops focused on self-advocacy, effective communication, and personal development, providing participants with the tools to navigate social situations confidently. Peer Support Groups where participants share experiences, challenges, and successes, creating a sense of belonging and understanding. Recreational opportunities such as sports, arts and crafts, to promote engagement, and personal growth.
