Our purpose is to... encourage our neighborhood to become more resilient by learning to grow their own foodand to foster neighborhood cohesivness. The Curtis Avenue Green Belt Growers is a branch of our 1 year old group called the Curtis Avenue Resiliency Group. We recognize food and agriculture as fundamental in the hierarchy of needs, and that in our tenuous times we are vulnerable to changing climate, among many other things.  Food growing and fostering pollinators is  complex and challenging. A great way to get started is by growing in our green belts and encouraging interest in food production. Our group has about 25 members, and is still growing. Our street has 60 households. We are getting to know each other so much more now, and hope to really form a community of neighbors who know one another and work together. Growing in the green belt would be lovely way to accomplish all of the above, with the hope of moving more people towards growing within their yards too. This is a brand new initiative, with many enthusiastic and effective members.
