We aim to work in partnership with youth, the community, and outdoor professionals to build a more accessible outdoors, where through art and shared experiences we connect and grow.Our vision is a Somerville where young people build relationships to nature, the arts, and each other through meaningful and powerful experiences. Where access is created through open minds, caring leaders from the community, and 100% free trips.Nabila and Sean both grew up attending youth outdoor programs in the community and have gone on to lead and support many young people in similar spaces. Together, we’ve worked with dozens of teens in outdoor programs and continue to learn and improve through the feedback we receive from participants.Our program is designed to be flexible and shaped by the young people we serve. At the end of each day, we have group conversations where youth can share what went well, what was hard, and how we can make the program better. We also give time for personal reflection through journaling and freewriting. After each program session, we review these reflections to help us improve for the next group.By making space for honest feedback and making changes based on what we hear, we ensure our program continues to grow and stay relevant to the needs of our participants. This process helps us create a stronger, more meaningful experience for every young person involved.We are now launching our Leadership Ladder, with the aim of supporting alumni join our staff.
