Our Purpose

to create and support opportunities for all residents, regardless of circumstances, to have access to gardens within the community. CGC plans to develop safe, beautiful and well-equipped facilities for gardeners to grow and harvest high-quality organic produce and flowers.

Summary of Projects

CGC received a grant in 2011 to protect and preserve a portion of South Portland's diminishing open space for community gardening. Our goal is to create an organic community garden that is well-managed and well-equipped so that users, especially those new to gardening, will find success and satisfaction and become passionate advocates for locally-grown produce and flowers. Funds were used for materials (fencing, raised beds, hoses, gravel) to start the new garden.
