Our project, "The Community Best Friends Club," looks for ways to support nonprofits in the Connecticut Naugatuck Valley and help them get what they need, whether it's social media content, funding, volunteers, or donations.Our main priority is supporting the Seymour Oxford Food Bank and other area food pantries and resources that are being strained under the new federal budget cuts and the rising costs of food.The food bank is seeing a major increase in appointment requests, and they just had their funding to buy fresh, local produce from farms cut substantially.We want to create a program that teaches cheap, sustainable, eco-friendly gardening to low income and A.L.I.C.E. families that wish to learn to grow their own food, and to area volunteers who want to grow fresh produce to donate to the food banks and pantries.
