Our Purpose

Our purpose is to use local, practical, solutions to improve the health, wellbeing and sustainability of the community while building climate- consciousness and community bonds.  We are a local community participant with  Window Dressers based in Rockland, ME  constructing and installing low cost insulating window inserts in homes and businesses which help local people to stay warm while reducing CO2 emissions and heating costs.  CEC strives to raise awareness of the environment and climate change, and to bring our community together around efforts to reduce fossil fuel use and environmentally destructive practices.  We have led a high school climate club  run community workshops for Earth Week in 2021, and 2023, and both participate in and facilitate  workshops based on “The Work That Reconnects.” We continue to look for ways to expand efforts to engage our community in living more sustainably in our world and to create connections among people and with the Earth.  Three members are part of a local Climate Action Advisory Committee (CAAC) developing achievable strategies to reduce climate impacts.   In this work we are specifically advancing ways in which our community can/must implement strategic climate plans within an equity framework.  In 2023 we expanded our Window Dressers program into the local technical high school construction and environment program.
