Climate Change Action Brookline received a grant in 2010 to promote, facilitate, mentor, and track EcoTeam development throughout a network of faith-based organizations who will conduct EcoTeams for their membership under CCAB guidance, called the Interfaith Green Alliance. CCAB's goal is to establish at least 12 EcoTeams in 2011 among religious organizations in their community.
Climate Action Brookline
Our Purpose
To create a greener and healthier future by connecting Brookline citizens, businesses, non-profits and faith organizations to ways they can reduce their carbon footprint at home, at work, and in the community. Our goal is to help Brookline achieve its goal of zero emissions by 2050.
Summary of Projects
The group received a grant in 2008 to work with parents of school-age children to increase awareness and activism around climate change and sustainability. CCAB will tap in to existing parent leadership to launch Green Teams within each school. These Green Teams offer discrete measures such as: 1) the zero waste lunch program, 2) anti-idling campaigns, 3) walk/bike/bus to school programs, 4) art and essay contests, 5) increased recycling within the school and parent-organized school events, 6) the Low Carbon Diet workshop for families of school-aged children, among other things.
