Following the model of Danish and German Waldkindergartens, we are opening a forest school as an early childhood education option for preschool-2nd grade to be located in Williston, VT. This model uses nature immersion as the backdrop for education, integrating environmental knowledge, and care with standard academics, thus building the foundation for a citizen cohort that considers imact to the environment throughout life's choices.Additionally, this model will include greater frequency of physical activity throughout the school day, as well as a community componant connecting students with older generations, and with helping hands projects across our region. Our mission is:To offer a learning environment for children with nature as the classroom, social acuity, and environmental interconnection as the foundation, where heritage skills are woven with classic subjects. Encouraging the child of the world to develop as a citizen of nature, attuned to both wonder and service, and empowered to follow the inner drive for learning.
