Cheshire Land Trust
Our Purpose
Our purpose is to create a Pollinator Pathway native-plant garden as an extension of the Cheshire Land Trust's conservation and education mission. The Pollinator Pathway is set to break ground in the spring on a high-visibility and highly-used section of the Farmington Canal Heritage Trail. The Pollinator Pathway will help us to create awareness of the insect apocalypse, promote and educate the public on the importance of pollinators and ways we can help Monarch butterflies and other pollinators through the use of native plants, along with pledging not to use pesticides. Furthermore, passersby and the town also benefit as we take a currently mowed grass corner, an area of 800 square feet, and create a beautification project for the community.Cheshire Land Trust is an all-volunteer 501(c)3 conservation non-profit organization. We protect forever and steward almost 600 acres in the town. The properties we protect include farms, meadows, wetlands, forests, streams and includes the plant and wildlife within them. CLT has properties open to the public for to enjoy low-impact recreation and CLT also maintains trail networks for the public's use to hike and walk. CTL receives no taxpayer monies nor funds from the town of Cheshire.
