Our purpose is to partner with local town and organizations (non-profit) to build a Christmas and Hardwood Tree Farm. CGC donates the land for tree planting and educational use. When the Christmas and Hardwood Trees are harvested the partners and CGC will share in the proceeds. The partners can elect to either harvest the trees for replanting at their organization's location or harvest the trees for re-sale. The Christmas and Hardwood Tree Farm will enrich a remote region of Southwestern Vermont. The land parcel was logged prior to CGC purchasing it. Unfortunately the loggers did not adhere to logging best practices. As one can image large areas were clear cut, and young live trees unneccessarily cut down in order to take large hardwoods. The loggers used heavy machinary in areas that destroyed natural land and water habitat. CGC is committed to restoring this parcel of land by offering large sections to partners for tree planting. The partners will plant and maintain the Christmas and or Hardwood trees throughout the years till harvest time. CGC will host educational classes about tree farming and the environment. These classes will be seasonal and compliment the tree growing seasons. CGC asks the partners to leave a small percentage of their trees on the property in order to revitalize the parcel.
