Burlington School Food Project
Our Purpose
to support students who have an interest in growing food and learning about sustainable food systems. Food Fighters is a group of Burlington High School (BHS) students that works on both personal projects and common food production goals for the greater school community through an after school group. The Food Fighters grow starts in the BHS greenhouse for Burlington school gardens, and maintain multiple garden sites at BHS. Students take field trips to urban food sites including: Rock Point, Vermont Goat Collaborative, and the Intervale Community Farm. Jessie Mazar was an AmeriCorps member with the Burlington School Food Project when Food Fighters was formed and will continue to work with the group when her service ends on March 28, 2014. The group gets a small budget through the after school program, and solicits donations to cover any additional expenses.
