Summary of Projects

The groups received a grant in 2011 to support a new produce distribution model, the “Good Food Market”, at the 248-unit Gallivant Public Housing complex in Mattapan. Currently residents from Gallivant Public Housing access food bimonthly from an on-site food pantry. The Good Food Market will be housed at the same location on alternate weeks.

The groups received a grant in 2009 to support the Mattapan Food System Project to strengthen food security in the area.

The groups received a grant in 2008 to link community development, youth leadership development, public health, and a local sustainable agriculture to create a local food policy council to guide the effort and ensure broad community support and engagement.Partnering with community groups in Mattapan the Farm pooled ideas and resources to develop the Mattapan Food Systems Council. New distribution strategies will be explored and piloted and a farm to school program and low-income CSA will be developed.

The group received a grant in 2007 through the Boston Grants Initiative to fund the Mattapan Food System Project to strengthen food security in Mattapan by linking community development, youth leadership development, public health and local and sustainable agriculture to create a local food policy council to guide the effort.
