Our Purpose

to create an outdoor educational gardening space that will include the purpose of the Victory Garden during World War II and make connections to the modern-day issues of nutrition, healthy lifestyles, and food insecurity. The Victory Garden in the courtyard of the Brick Store Museum will consist of three raised-bed gardens planted with hearty organic vegetable seeds which will be planted on a planned season schedule to make sure that the garden will be blooming continuously. In addition to the raised beds, there will be a family education area containing planter boxes so that children and families can learn to plant and harvest their own vegetables. Workshops, programs, and lectures will accompany the garden to help local audiences develop their own gardens. All produce from the raised beds will be donated to local food pantries, to further emphasize our goal of bringing food insecurity to the forefront.
