Bradford Resilience
Our Purpose
We started Bradford Resilience as a purely Mutual Aid group and have asked the town to go under the Emergency Management arm in order to provide more protections and stability to volunteers in order to keep this effort going for the future. We have the broadest participation that has ever been seen for a volunteer group in Bradford and we plan to keep it going long-term in order to support residents, coordinate volunteers, facilitate increased transparency and communication, and to help teach community members how to help one another (for example, we have documented social service organizations and taught volunteers how to help people access services). Our stated purpose for our bylaws: to bring together representatives from all sectors of the community in order to best assess community needs; to stay connected and act as a community resource, particularly in times of crisis; to support, mobilize, and coordinate volunteers; to make recommendations to, cooperate with, and communicate with Town officials, commissions, groups, organizations, and appropriate agencies of regional and state government; and to conduct related business as decided by the Commission and approved by the Selectboard.
