Our purpose is to... Build community resilience to COVID-19 by practicing mutual aid and developing working class power. Our two primary services to citizens in need are distribution of groceries from a central location (Makeshift Boston) and contact-free delivery to individuals and families in the Boston area who cannot get food themselves. This group was formed because we believe this crisis was created by the existing capitalist system due to lack of centralized healthcare, worker's rights and housing. Fundamentally, this crisis was created: the pandemic is a class war, and we must rely on each other to survive. The Boston Solidarity Supply Distribution serves the public where the government has failed and is helping the working class secure basic human rights in a time of crisis.We are dedicated to being led by the community we serve, and strive to make our decisions as democratically as possible. We do not practice hegemony over the community we serve, nor do we tell people what they need and how they need it. We incorporate community members into our decision making process and leave feedback flyers in every bag of groceries. Many aspects of the "Just Transition" model are already accounted for in our organization.
