Our Purpose

Black Girls Achieve (BGA) is an enrichment program designed for Black girls in grades 6–12, focused on equipping them with the skills, confidence, and tools needed to navigate and thrive in their experiences . We do this work because persistent racial, gender, and socioeconomic inequities limit Black girls’ access to critical social, academic, and emotional support both in schools and at home compared to their peers. BGA exists to confront those disparities and create spaces where Black girls are seen and empowered. Our program raises awareness of how social and political systems shape the lives of Black girls, while actively working to advance equity. Our participants have opportunities to build their voices and exercise leadership. Our programming is grounded in five key areas: advocacy, education, career readiness and entrepreneurship, health and wellness, and the empowerment of women and girls. We complement traditional school curricula by offering discussions and experiences that are often missing from classrooms and households. Through workshops and interactive learning, girls gain practical life skills they can carry into adulthood, along with knowledge that supports healthy living and personal growth. We uplift girls, build confidence, and prepare them for school, work, and community life while strengthening the communities they belong to.
