Our Purpose

Our purpose is to...Biddeford is a former mill town with many people living at or near the poverty line. Biddeford Community Gardens was founded in 2017 by two Master Gardener Volunteers who recognized and addressed a need to create and maintain public vegetable gardens, first in a small children's teaching garden, followed by the construction of a 41 bed flagship garden, which serves many local seniors living on fixed incomes.Biddeford Community Gardens' mission is to empower community members to work with nature and cultivate welcoming urban green spaces, promotes agricultural and educational opportunities, and provides sustainable access to fresh, nutritious, locally-sourced food. Our vision is for our gardens to provide food security for all Biddeford residents – to feed our city from the ground up!
