Our Purpose

Our community garden is a space for wellness, production of fresh vegetables and community meetings. It is graciously supported by the Boston Day and Evening Academy (BDEA). This past year, with the pandemic, the garden served as an important source of fresh food and community life. Neighbors found the garden as a space to visit, grow food and work as a collective. Also, the garden benefited an estimated of 45 families with fresh vegetables through the initiative of the neighbors to harvest and distribute the food among the local families. The COVID-19 pandemic reminded us - the neighbors - how important our garden is. It indeed brought our community together in times of uncertainty. It is important to mention here that the garden is located in the Moreland Historic District in Roxbury, a community made of largely by Black and Latino families.
