Bartlett Events is a joint project of Alliger Arts and Nuestra Comunidad, two Boston-based non-profits. Nuestra is a CDC that owns a large parcel of vacant land with two huge abandoned bus garages. Alliger Arts has permission to host weekend community arts events there all summer and fall! We are going to take this abandoned, blighted eyesore and turn it into an asset for the community. Our first project is Mural Fest on May 11. We have over 40 muralists who will turn the buildings into Boston's largest street art zone! After that, we are inviting community groups to use the site on weekends for their own events. We are collaborating with a large number of partners from the surrounding area and are working to get as many local artists, especially new/emerging artists, involved as we can. Our first art piece went up this week. It is a "before I die" wall for the community to share their goals. Our project will end in the fall of 2013 when the buildings are torn down.
