Our Purpose

Our mission is to grow food, inspire learning, build community, and foster connection to the land, with the support of dedicated volunteers. We invite and welcome everyone to visit, participate in, and enjoy this historic farm. Our vision for the farm is to be a thriving, inclusive community farm committed to growing healthy food, restoring soil health, offering environmental education, promoting equitable food justice, and instilling an appreciation for the natural habitat and bounty around us. The farm sits on land that was owned and farmed by a family for 120 years. When the owner passed away in 2016, he hoped to keep the land in farming as a place for students to learn. A group of Barrington residents raised the funds to purchase the land and maintain it as farmland. The group then formed the Barrington Farm School 501(c)(3) nonprofit to operate the farm as an educational enterprise.
