to find a way to save our much loved and much needed Barnard General Store. The Barnard Community Trust has been formed as a local, non-profit organization. Our larger mission is to promote and enable the Town of Barnard to maintain and enhance its rural quality of life in a positive and sustainable way. Our open membership policy is based on the belief that many hands make the work go easier, and that local decision making benefits our community both today and in the long run. The primary goal for 2012-13 is to purchase and renovate the Barnard General Store. We would like to preserve the historic nature of our town center, become energy efficient in our building envelope and electrical usage, We can then lease to a business operator with a sound business plan and solid financial backing to operate the store with dedicated shelf space for local farmers and local value added food producers.
