Our Purpose

Created by the artists themselves, the Barefoot Music and Arts festival is a platform for artists, musicians, and movement practitioners of the Monadnock region and surrounding areas to do what they love and share it with the community. This is an outdoor, family-friendly event that brings folks together for an interdisciplinary and interactive experience. The ethos of the festival include our two founding principles: Leave no Trace and Inclusion. Hosting an outdoor festival is a privilege, and we believe that our impact on the environment should be minimal. We want to create beauty and an inspiring environment that does not also create unnecessary waste or other negative impact on the surrounding community. Everything we bring with us to the festival, we take home.Being an “Inclusive” event means that we want to make the festival as accessible as possible to anyone who would like to attend or participate. We believe that shared embodied and creative experiences should not be exclusive to those with the resources to buy a ticket. We make decisions about our lineup and artists with a focus on creating diversity in representation and perspective. In the end, the Barefoot team produces this festival because it does not already exist in our community. We continue to work to make this happen because we believe that this type of event is where people can learn the most from each other and appreciate connection to the earth… and it’s also a lot of fun!
