to provide primarily a place for Alstead residents without access to desirable land to grow their own food. In 2012 we also ran a small plot on an all volunteer basis to provide fresh vegetables to the Fall Mountain Food Shelf and Friendly Meals program. Because of the difficulty in organizing this garden on an all volunteer basis, we would like to develop it with a hired program manager who can coordinate volunteers and take responsibility for the garden, thus increasing community involvement and the volume of produce coming out of the garden. Committee members continue to do much of the organizing and preparation for the garden on a volunteer basis, including seeking and managing applications, tilling, providing access to water, and more.
