Our Purpose

Our purpose is to...Foodstock originated and began at the Agnes Gray School in 2017. Foodstock is located in the basement of the school in West Paris (Agnes Gray). The goal of the food pantry program is to provide easy access to healthy food for insecure children. In 2019, 76% of the families at Agnes Gray are living at or below the Maine State poverty level. Foodstock was designed to support the needs of these insecure families, providing food in a flexible way so that kids can ‘shop’ as needed right at school.Ten children regularly shop in the pantry on Fridays in order to contribute to their families during the weekends. Foodstock also opens its doors on vacations. Families are encouraged to visit the school anytime during school hours when it’s convenient for them to pick up food.Since the school closed, requests for food have increased dramatically, and we’re looking for ways to increase funding so we can meet this demand.  Funds are used to purchase food from the Good Shepard Food Bank.
