Summary of Projects

In 2011, AARI received a grant for materials to establish the new garden site in the West End of Providence. The group has been invited to take a seat at the newly created Rhode Island Food Council and is working with city representatives to get more local produce in cornerstores in the West End of Providence.

The group received a grant in 2010 to support the second year of the West End African Community Garden project with funding providing support to overcome the two challenges of the previous year: irrigation and soil material to fill a section of the land.

In 2009 AARI received a grant to support the West End African Community Garden project and build capacity of the African Alliance of RI to engage its constituents in a self-help economic development project.
