Adaptation Actions Initiative
Our Purpose
to help people, particularly those who serve as guides for youth, gain new tools and understandings to adapt themselves and mentor others to adapt in a changing world. Many grandparents and other adults worry about the future in light of changes in our climate. These adults also have opportunities as role models and mentors for children. The first adaptation strategy is to decrease our energy use and greenhouse gas emissions. The second strategy is to lessen our vulnerabilities to health risks, storms, or other climate related concerns. Adaptation can help us take care of each other and our environment, while providing numerous co-benefits environmentally, economically, and socially. Adaptation is a way to view and promote sustainability; meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs, as well as be better able to deal with current norms such as warmer temperatures and heavier storms.
