ACORN Network
Our Purpose
ACORN is a non-profit whose mission is to promote the growth and health of local food and agriculture in Vermont's Champlain Valley. ACORN is actively engaged in the following projects; Farmacy: Food is Medicine Program, Tour de Farms, Local Food & Farm Guide, Eat Local VT App, Online Wholesale Market, Farm to School initiatives and an emerging Food Hub. ACORN is based in and serves the entire Champlain Valley. We serve individuals who are striving to make a living in the food system in the Champlain Valley as well as those who would like to access more local foods. We support farms, food producers, and working lands. We also work with other organizations that are concerned about the food security of our most vulnerable neighbors. We are a network first and foremost and accomplish our goals by sharing resources and support with other agencies and organizations. As a network, we partner with organizations from the hyper local to the state and regional levels. We are an active part of the Addison County Hunger Council, the VT Farm to Plate Network and Food Solutions New England. Farmacy is led by ACORN in partnership with Porter Medical Center, the VT Department of Health, Rise VT and the Middlebury Natural Foods Co-op. HOPE contributes gleaned produce and eggs to Farmacy; and CVOEO is providing a physical space for us to aggregate and distribute from. ACORN is part of a new statewide Healthcare CSA Community of Practice formed by the VT Farm to Plate Network.
