Our Purpose

15 Minute Field Trips™ is dedicated to environmental advocacy through the arts and environmental literacy resources, training, and programs to get youth, classrooms, and families outdoors.  Through frequent exposure to nature we create responsible citizens and advocates for the environment and a way to reduce anxiety through the enjoyment of nature.  We strive to collaborate with other organizations and make our workshops as accessible as possible, increasing Spanish translation and meeting people where they are.   The arts become a stepping stone to taking action in one's own neighborhod, from litter clean-ups to installing green infrastructure. The number and scope of issues affecting the planet can be overwhelming, but working together on small projects can encourage bigger actions going forward. We've started with small pollinator gardens and reusable bags to mini forests and larger community engagement. We are rooted in concepts of justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion. Our programs prioritize reaching urban and BIPOC communities to help build connection with nature, understanding of local ecosystems, and the advocacy necessary to protect it all. By working in predominantly Hispanic and Black neighborhoods, such as lower South Providence, 15 Minute Field Trips is able to extend these programs to students who may otherwise lack access.
