Vermont BIPOC Pregnancy Support Group
Our Purpose
Chittenden County has abundant prenatal resources: yoga, support groups, doula networks, birthing classes. But access is not the same as belonging. For BIPOC pregnant people, these spaces often mean being the only person of color in the room, navigating facilitation rooted in white supremacy culture, and leaving more isolated than when you arrived. The Vermont BIPOC Pregnancy Support Group exists to change that. We are a peer support space (in-person and virtual) specifically for BIPOC pregnant and postpartum people in Vermont, a place where participants are not guests in someone else's community, but the community itself. Our goal is to remove the barriers that prevent BIPOC community members from participating. That means providing financial support for things like childcare, transportation, and other costs that make showing up hard. Because the work isn't just creating the space- it's making sure people can actually get there. Our group is facilitated by Jin Li Chan, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Certified Perinatal Mental Health Professional who specializes in supporting BIPOC individuals through pregnancy, postpartum, and early parenthood.
