Our Purpose

The Grandmothers’ Village Project (GVP) was founded to address the systemic inequities that leave Elders of Color vulnerable to housing insecurity, food scarcity, and inadequate healthcare. Our overarching goal is to create an eco-sustainable, net-zero village where elders can age in dignity, safety, and community.Rooted in Indigenous Technologies, Values, and Customs, GVP envisions a regenerative living model that promotes intergenerational knowledge-sharing, environmental stewardship, and holistic well-being. We are committed to advocating for policy changes that better serve elders, particularly around housing accessibility, food security, and healthcare. We launched this project because traditional housing and support systems fail to meet the needs of our elders, leaving many isolated or struggling. By building community-led solutions, we honor ancestral wisdom while creating a future where aging is embraced with respect and care.
