Our Purpose

Liberation Ecosystem, Inc. (LEI) is a BIPOC-led climate and social justice organizing hub striving to build power and opportunity centered in the needs of Vermonters of Color Deeply rooted in  our four focus areas - Land, Environment, Agriculture, and Foodways - we facilitate skillbuilding, solidarity, and healing for the most vulnerable and visionary in our communities. Our ultimate vision is the creation of a robust and thriving ecosystem that centers the power of Black, Indigenous, and Vermonters of Color.  Liberation Ecosystem offers Black, Indigenous, and Vermonters of Color the space and care to reimagine their relationships to each other and the earth. As people of the Global Majority, our community is rich with the joy and wisdom we believe can offer alternative models of land-based solutions for justice, sustainability, and healing across the unceded lands of Dawnland Confederacy (colonially known as Vermont). We are fully realized people of the earth who embrace our inherent role within nature rather than beside or above it. We firmly commit to our values of collective care, liberation and radical re-imagination, a commitment in service of the present community and future generations. As the epicenter of an ever-evolving network, sustained by interdependence and kinship, our vision is a collective future for people and ecosystems that is dignified, equitable, and safe.
