Nonprofit Accountability Group
Our Purpose
Nonprofit Accountability Group (NAG) is creating racial equity by directing resources to BIPOC disabled children, and families. We stand to abolish poverty by redistributing resources directly back into marginalized communities and by building trust between residents and long-standing institutions. We strengthen communities by listening to and amplifying marginalized voices.NAG is Black, Indigenous, and People of Color’s (BIPOC’s) response to the exploitation of marginalized communities by those in power, commonly known as poverty pimping. NAG stands to serve as a reminder that the nonprofit sector is one that answers to the people directly affected. Working in the nonprofit sector may feel like a sacrifice to some but non-Black people usually benefit more from the work than the communities they are serving. In order to make lasting change in communities BIPOC must be placed in leadership roles to gain decision making power to boost social movements. Some organizations are harming instead of helping – due to policing, wealth inequality relative to targeted demographics, and oppressive interpersonal relationships between those in power and marginalized communities. We center black and brown voices in decision making tables that play a role in policy and equity processes.
