Our Purpose

We have come to call the work at the Hiland Hall Gardens The “Cultivating Community: Transforming Hiland Hall Garden”. This project represents an ongoing opportunity to breathe new life into a beloved community garden space. Our main objectives are to restore and enhance the Hiland Hall Garden as a place of beauty and respite for the community, to expand the garden's capacity for educational programs, community events, and local food production and to promote environmental awareness and sustainability through gardening and educational initiatives. The goal of the gardens is to educate our next generation about the importance of healthy eating and to train them to grow their own healthy, fresh foods. Additionally, our goal is to help feed members of our community in need. This past year, our garden donated over two thousand pounds of food to our local Meals on Wheels. Additionally, a portion of the food grown is used in the creation of healthy recipes with our students.
