Our Purpose

To strengthen the environment and our community. Greenagers is a program built on two ethics: service and stewardship. Within these ethics local youth find programs that build work skills, improve their community, engage them as stewards of the environment, and garner community recognition of their efforts. Our projects engage youth in debate and thought about their place in our community and our community's place in the world.

Summary of Projects

Greenagers received a grant in 2011 to collaborate with the Trustees of Reservations; Great Barrington Trails and Greenways, Mount Everett High School FFA, and Monument Mountain High School in offering three workshops involving draft animal power in forestry. The workshops interweave the history of draft power, forest ecology, and sustainable lumber harvesting within the workday. Each workshop is be marketed specifically to high school students as well as to the general public.

Greenagers received a grant in 2009 to work with local, volunteer youth to plan and install front lawn vegetable gardens in the community with priority given to underserved residents.
