Our Purpose

Our purpose is to create a more inclusive and supportive community for newly arrived immigrants, refugees, and African Americans in Maine by:
  1. Deepening Community Engagement: MAP aims to build a strong, integrated community through expanded outreach and engagement, ensuring that the voices of diverse and underrepresented groups are actively included in decision-making processes.
  2. Lowering Barriers to Participation: The organization seeks to remove obstacles that hinder access to essential services and community resources, making it easier for individuals to participate fully in their new environment.
  3. Expanding Stakeholder Involvement: MAP is committed to identifying and involving new stakeholders, including local organizations, businesses, and community leaders, to foster a more collaborative and supportive network for newcomers.
  4. Broadening Community Vision: By developing a comprehensive vision for community integration and empowerment, MAP will enhance its ability to address the needs of its diverse population and drive positive, systemic change.
Through these efforts, MAP aims to ensure that all community members have the opportunity to thrive and contribute meaningfully to their new communities.
