The Genesis Center
Our Purpose
The Genesis Center was founded in 1982 to assist refugees from Southeast Asia. Sister Angela Daniels and Father Daniel Trainor opened The Genesis School for Indochinese as part of the Indochinese Advocacy Project. Today The Genesis Center has evolved to become a recognized provider of adult education and related support services, including a Culinary Arts Program and day care.
This group is comprised of voluteers who are seeking to educate low-income community members on the benefits of using local, and even self grown produce, while providing access to a fully-equiped garden/growing area which has built throughout the past several years for community use by volunteers at the Genesis Center.
We wish to create formal stipend positions for a garden leader and several coordinators of garden activities. Coordinator activities include organizing workshops, garden prep and logistics planning, and mentoring to individuals have access to the community garden space.
