The Friends of Hiland Hall Gardens
Our Purpose
The Friends of Hiland Hall Garden 501C3 has been in existence since 2010. We create a Farm to School Program and a Village Camp experience in the village of North Bennington. The Bennington and North Bennington communities benefit from the work we do in the garden. The Bennington community is the second poorest county in Vermont and 83% of the students qualify for free or reduced lunches. The Farm to School Program includes educating elementary school children to grow, harvest, prepare healthy foods and ultimately make healthy food choices. Our Village Camp summer program experiences extend that learning and experience throughout the summer for our campers. Additionally, the garden provides thousands of pounds of vegetables to the local Meals on Wheels Program and food pantries grown and harvested by our students and campers.
