Our Purpose

to inform government leadership and the public about the severe local impacts of the proposed F-35 bomber basing at Burlington International Airport as revealed by the USAF's Environmental Impact Statement (2012). The impacts include: -increased noise will render 3,000 residences "incompatible with residential use" due to unhealthful noise levels -the public (nearly 7will be endangered by the military flying a largely untested bomber over densely populated residential areas multiple times a day. -children will be most severely impacted -There will be negative impacts on ALL wildlife in the study area. It has also come to be our mission to apply political pressure to those who support the basing in spite of the severe impacts. These actions include protest at political events, electoral write-in campaigns and ad buys. The health, safety, local economy and quality of life for residents will be harmed by the noise, effluent, expense, and economic opportunity cost of this bomber.

Summary of Projects

Stop the F-35 Coalition received a grant in 2010 for basic organizational support including meeting space, speakers, printing and website support. The Stop the F-35 group is working closely with the VT Peace and Justice Center and Veterans for Peace. They have enlisted Roger Bourassa, an ex-marine and retired national guardsman as a key spokesperson for the group who has been very effective in getting the groups message out to a broad audience.
