Our Purpose

To empower children and families to achieve lifelong successes; to empower Somali Bantu Community and their families to initiate personal and social change; to provide the Somali Bantu Community information about how to connect to the new life in America; to prevent child abuse and neglect by promoting positive parenting, healthy families, and homes where children are valued and loved; to facilitate the Somali Bantu Community members to achieve their goals for the next generations; to preserve pride and cultural tradition.

Summary of Projects

The Somali Bantu Community Associate received a grant in 2010 to fund a program coordinator and stipends for outreach workers for two campaigns on lead paint contaimination and the dangers of prescription drugs being stored and used inappropriately. SBCA field workers will make home visits in the community, to raise awareness about the potential dangers of both the incorrect use of medications and the proper storage of medicines and the risks of lead paint.
