Our Purpose

to close Entergy Nuclear's Vermont Yankee facility on March 21, 2012. We believe that Vermont Yankee should be replaced through conservation, efficiency and renewable solutions, moving us towards a truly "Safe and Green" energy future. The campaign focuses on public education, outreach, and organizing among people in the 50 towns in VT, MA, and NH within 20 miles of the reactor. Because we live in the immediate vicinity of Vermont Yankee and are therefore most at risk, most in harm's way, have a unique credibility, opportunity, and responsibility to let our voices be heard, by our neighbors, the media, and elected officials. We do this by organizing public demonstrations, walks, marches, letter writing campaigns, and educational forums and by hosting films and speakers, and by co-sponsoring the same with our sister organizations.
