Our purpose is to...Portsmouth Middle School is partnering with Eastern Rhode Island Conservation Division to create a place for students to become knowledgeable, compassionate, and innovative thinkers in the realm of sustainable agriculture. Starting with a 2-acre parcel of land, one half of a mile from the middle school, our hope is to create a space to foster environmental awareness and promote students’ understanding of nutrition and food access through applied learning. We hope to collaborate with local organizations, create family farm plots, and donate to our local food shelter. Last year, with your help, we were able to plow a small piece of land and harvest. This year, we are implementing a full phase one which contains school gardens and community gardens.
